Brighton makes Krul's move from Newcastle permanent
Fresh off his first competitive appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion during Tuesday's League Cup defeat at Bournemouth, Tim Krul has agreed to permanent terms with the Seagulls.
Brighton announced the move Wednesday with a statement on its website, adding that Krul has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Premier League debutant.
The eight-time capped Netherlands international can consider himself a seasoned English traveller after a 12-year association with Newcastle - the top flight's northernmost side - has been swapped for the seasonal sun and fun of the south coast.
Krul, 29, made 160 appearances for the Magpies after a move from Dutch outfit ADO Den Haag in 2006. The Hague-born shot-stopper also enjoyed loan spells with Falkirk, Carlisle United, Ajax, and AZ Alkmaar before returning to Tyneside this summer.
With Australian international Matt Ryan laying claim to the first-choice duties at the Falmer Stadium under Chris Hughton, Krul is likely to be the Gulls' No. 2 'keeper assigned to the club's FA Cup efforts.
