Report: Inter considers bid for Juventus target Szczesny
Wojciech Szczesny is set to become the subject of a Serie A tug of war.
Speculation has linked the Polish international shot-stopper with a summer switch to Juventus, though Inter is now considering throwing its hat in the ring to meet Arsenal's £15-million valuation, reports the Evening Standard's James Olley.
The 28-year-old impressed last season on loan at Roma, and with Juve No. 1 Gianluigi Buffon expressing an intent to retire after the 2018 World Cup, the six-time successive Scudetto winner has apparently been monitoring the 27-year-old Arsenal academy product.
With a year left on his deal at the Emirates while Petr Cech maintains a stranglehold on first-choice duties, Arsenal is hoping to sell Szczesny this summer, and a move to the San Siro would be a reunion of sorts for the 28-time capped international.
Szczesny played all 38 league matches last season for I Giallorossi under Luciano Spalletti, and with the Italian gaffer making the San Siro summer switch, he allegedly fancies luring the rangy shot-stopper.
Inter has yet to make a formal bid for Szczesny, and Juve is reportedly put off by the £15-million price tag, which is half of what Everton paid to bring Jordan Pickford to Goodison Park.
