Report: City confident over pursuit of Tottenham's Kyle Walker

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker appears to be on the verge of joining a Premier League rival.

Manchester City is believed to be growing in confidence over the potential capture of the Tottenham full-back, sources revealed to Peter O'Rourke of ESPNFC.

Manager Pep Guardiola has apparently identified the English international as one of his top targets entering the summer as he attempts to fill the void at right-back left by the departures of Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta, whose contracts with City were not renewed.

Despite Walker's emergence as one of the country's top right-backs, Tottenham is said to be inclined to sell the 26-year-old after the emergence of Kieran Trippier in Walker's absence through injury in the second half of the season.

The Premier League runner-up will reportedly only entertain offers in excess of £35 million, with O'Rourke adding that Manchester City is prepared to offer as much as £45 million to complete the transfer.

Walker, who has also reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, signed a new contract until 2021 earlier this season.

A reported feud with manager Mauricio Pochettino emerged earlier this month when the Argentine allegedly opted to deploy Trippier at right-back after questioning Walker's fitness.

Since joining Spurs from Sheffield United in 2009, Walker has appeared in over 150 matches in all competitions.
