By the numbers: Arsenal sinks to new low after Bayern battering

It was a day to forget for Arsenal in more ways than just being eliminated from the Champions League.

In what looked like a carbon copy of the first leg, Bayern Munich once again put together an utterly dominating second-half display to secure its second-straight 5-1 victory to knock the English side out of the Champions League.

Outside of Arsenal's European journey coming to an end, Tuesday's match was littered with several noteworthy stats that some supporters of the north London side will struggle to digest.

Here's a look at the match by the numbers:

5-1 - Tuesday's result marked Arsenal's heaviest home defeat in European competition. It also happened the be Arsenal's worst loss at the Emirates Stadium since Chelsea's 4-1 triumph in 2009.

1982 - The loss eclipsed the north London side's futility record at home in European competition, with Bayern usurping Spartak Moscow as the side to hand Arsenal it biggest defeat on home soil. The Russian team held the mark for almost 35 years after recording a 5-2 victory at Highbury in the fall 1982.

12-1 - Arsenal barely avoided the all-time record for margin of loss on aggregate:

19 - Biggest home defeat in 19 years since Chelsea's 5-1 League Cup win in 1998.

7 - Seventh time Bayern has scored five goals or more in the Champions League knockout round.

3 - Bayern has defeated Arsenal 5-1 three times in a row.

100 - Game-high number of touches made by Arturo Vidal.

26 - Bayern is one-shy of Barcelona's record (27 goals vs. Celtic) for Champions League goals scored against an opponent after banging in 26 during 12 matches against Arsenal.
