Swansea City's spirited charge to take something from Stamford Bridge was cut short when Diego Costa whacked in a left-footed volley on 84 minutes to further enhance his reputation as one of Europe's most ferocious frontmen.
The Spain international could be vying with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez for this season's Golden Boot until the final day. The Everton and Arsenal forwards both have 17 strikes to their name, while Costa now stands on 16.
Chelsea topped Swansea by a 3-1 scoreline on Saturday.
