Agent: Aguero intent on being at Manchester City next season
There looks to be a successor to Sergio Aguero at the Etihad Stadium, but the Argentinian forward isn't planning on packing his suitcase.
Hernan Reguera, Aguero's agent, provided some clarity Thursday regarding his client's future at Manchester City, insisting the product of Club Atletico Independiente will represent the Citizens next season and compete for minutes with Gabriel Jesus.
Aguero found himself on City's bench Wednesday as Jesus took the pitch as a starter, suggesting a changing of the guard was taking place. Only in the 72nd minute of the Premier League fixture did the native of Buenos Aires, Argentina replace the Brazilian teenager, when the Citizens were ahead 4-0 at West Ham United.
"Yes, he is very, very happy - he will be there next season," Reguera said, according to the Guardian's Jamie Jackson.
Asked if Aguero had any problem competing with the 19-year-old, Reguera replied: "No problem."
Pep Guardiola confirmed in January that Aguero already agreed to a contract extension. An official announcement is yet to be published, but reports suggest the deal is signed and ties the striker to the Citizens until 2020. By the end of the 2019-20 Premier League season, he will be 31 years old, an age he said would mark his return to Independiente.
