League Cup draw: Manchester derby highlights 4th-round clashes
Manchester United has been rewarded for its 3-1 win at third-tier Northampton Town on Wednesday with a League Cup fourth-round bout against archrival Manchester City at Old Trafford.
The great northwest foes have already sparred with one another this season on Sept. 10, when Pep Guardiola's City ran out a 2-1 winner over Jose Mourinho's United in Stretford.
Elsewhere in the draw, West Ham United hosts London rival Chelsea following its last-ditch win over Accrington Stanley in the third round, and Liverpool welcomes Tottenham Hotspur - which engineered a 5-0 trouncing over Gillingham to advance - to Anfield.
Another notable tie is Reading travelling to Arsenal, a repeat of a tie in 2012 that spurned a 7-5 win for the Gunners - the 12 goals marking a joint-record high in a single League Cup match.
Here is the draw in full:
- West Ham United vs. Chelsea
- Manchester United vs. Manchester City
- Arsenal vs. Reading
- Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur
- Bristol City vs. Hull City
- Leeds United vs. Norwich City
- Newcastle United vs. Preston North End
- Southampton vs. Sunderland
Matches to be played week commencing Oct. 24.
