With pockets flush from the proceeds of Yannick Bolasie's move to Everton for a reported £25-million fee, Crystal Palace is targeting wantaway Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, reports Dominic Fifield of the Guardian.

Expected to be active before the transfer window closes Aug. 31, Palace is apparently searching for a like-for-like replacement for Bolasie despite the wealth of wingers at Selhurst Park.

With another former Magpie, Andros Townsend, already in the ranks, along with pacey wingers Bakary Sako and Wilfried Zaha, Palace boss Alan Pardew reportedly told chairman Steve Parish that he's monitoring Sissoko as a fourth wide player.

Sissoko, 26, has three years left on his deal at Newcastle. On the heels of a stellar showing with France at Euro 2016, the Toulouse academy product has been pushing for a high-profile move. He has yet to feature in either of Newcastle's first two Championship fixtures.

Newcastle gaffer Rafa Benitez is sympathetic to Sissoko's desire to leave, but the Spaniard wants any move finalised sooner rather than later.

"We can’t wait until the end (of the window) so we have to be sure he is training well and he’s ready," Benitez said Saturday.

"If someone thinks if they will wait until 31 August it will be easier, I can guarantee them it will be more difficult."

In addition to Sissoko, Pardew has also reportedly told Parish that he's desperate to sign a striker in the window, with Liverpool's Christian Benteke, West Brom outcast Saido Berahino, and Chelsea's Loic Remy among those on the Eagles manager's shortlist.
