Newly promoted Middlesbrough is eager to add a bit of experience between the pipes with a possible move for former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes.
Following his disappointing first season in England with Manchester United, Valdes has been booked in for a medical with Middlesbrough after holding successful transfer talks with the club's representatives, Louise Taylor of the Guardian reports.

Valdes, 34, became a free agent at season's end to close the chapter on his United career.
Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas are also reportedly interested in the veteran but Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is confident Valdes will choose to sign with The Boro in an effort to prove himself in England.
Valdes only managed one appearance for United during a preseason friendly last year before he was loaned out to Standard Liege in January.
