Monchengladbach director denies report of Arsenal bid for Xhaka

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl says Arsenal has not submitted a formal bid for the services of star performer Granit Xhaka, despite reports emerging earlier in the week that the Gunners are interested in acquiring the Switzerland midfielder.

Arsenal is reportedly looking to make a £30-million bid for Xhaka but Eberl quickly quashed talk that a deal was already done.

"There is no official offer," Eberl said, according to Sky Sports. "But Granit Xhaka is an issue. It's clear he has generated interest at other clubs. We have to wait and see what happens."

Xhaka is now focused on Switzerland's Euro 2016 campaign, drawn in Group A alongside France, Romania, and Albania, but the 23-year-old says he'd like to have his future resolved sooner rather than later.

"It would be good if I knew where my future lies in the new season before the Euros," Xhaka said. "It's not all that helpful if you have to think about stuff like that during the tournament. I would be pleased if it were to be decided before, but it wouldn't be a problem if it's after."
