Welbeck to have scan on knee injury suffered in Manchester City match

Danny Welbeck will be sweating over his involvement in Euro 2016 after sustaining a knee injury in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Welbeck's day finished prematurely when he signaled to the Arsenal bench for a substitution in the opening half.

Manager Arsene Wenger subsequently replaced Welbeck with Jack Wilshere, who recently returned to the first team after almost a year on the sidelines with a fractured fibula.

Welbeck's injury appeared to occur as he attempted to dispossess Bacary Sagna near the touchline, where his right leg landed awkwardly.

He attempted to continue but quickly gestured to the bench that his day was over.

While Welbeck's hopes of appearing in the European Championship with England could now be in danger, as a result, Wilshere has a chance to capitalize on an opportunity, helping his bid to make Roy Hodgson's team with solid performances to end the season.
