Report: Wilshere will be named to England's Euro 2016 squad

Jack Wilshere doesn't have to prove anything to England manager Roy Hodgson. His resume, apparently, speaks for itself.

Sam Wallace of the Telegraph reports that the oft-injured midfielder, 24, will indeed be included on the final 23-man squad for Euro 2016, with Hodgson content to allow the Arsenal man to prove his fitness in pre-tournament friendlies.

Wilshere has only recently returned to action, recovering from a fractured fibula that ultimately kept him sidelined for 330 days to make a substitute appearance against Sunderland last month.

He did not feature in the Gunners' most recent match against Norwich City, but could play a part in the penultimate contest of the campaign, a vital meeting with Manchester City on Sunday, after spending time working with the Under-21 side in order to reach full match fitness.

Hodgson is expected to name his 23-man squad for this summer's tournament on Thursday - well ahead of the May 31 deadline - and as Wallace explains, the gaffer sees Wilshere as a vital member of that team:

Wilshere’s decisive performance at the base of the diamond in the critical Euro 2016 opening qualifier against Switzerland in September 2014 figures highly in Hodgson’s thinking when it comes to the Arsenal man’s status in the side. Against Slovenia, Wilshere played in the centre of a midfield three and Hodgson would ideally like to start him in that position.

Wilshere's inclusion would push someone else to the outskirts, with Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, and Danny Drinkwater likely to be left on the outside looking in should the Arsenal man get the nod.

Dele Alli, Ross Barkley, and Eric Dier are thought to be locks for a central midfield spot on Hodgson's squad.
