Aston Villa's Ayew, Gueye set for FA penalty after fan incident

Aston Villa's disastrous season is nearing its dire end, but not without further defeat, as attacker Jordan Ayew could see punishment from the Football Association (FA) for an incident during the weekend's 3-2 defeat at Watford.

Ayew, 24, and fellow Ligue 1 summer signing Idrissa Gueye were seen accosting Hornets supporters seated in the Sir Elton John Stand at Vicarage Road.

A report Sunday suggested that Ayew vaulted an advertising hoarding to confront Watford fans before the Ghanaian international was subbed off in the 79th minute. Troy Deeney then scored a brace in injury time to add to Villa's misery, and now the former Lorient forward Ayew may face a ban based on the report filed by match official Anthony Taylor.

The same report conceded that Gueye's involvement was an attempt to pull Ayew away from the incident, rather than confronting the supporters in the same manner as his Villa mate.

Ayew scored his seventh goal of the season in defeat in what could've been his last match in a Villa kit based on the FA's pending decision on his conduct during Saturday's clash.

The FA will likely use video evidence to review the incident coupled with Taylor's report that could see both Ayew and Gueye disciplined.
