Arsenal are in talks with Chelsea about signing Kai Havertz during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners' pursuit is still at a relatively early stage, but they've made an opening proposal to sign the attacking midfielder, reports The Athletic's David Ornstein. Bayern Munich, who are coached by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, are also interested in Havertz.

Chelsea set an asking price of £70 million after Havertz expressed a desire to leave the club in the offseason, The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg reports. The 24-year-old joined the Blues for around £62.5 million three years ago.

Havertz has scored 32 goals and registered 15 assists over 139 appearances for Chelsea, notably notching winners in the 2021 Champions League final and the Club World Cup final in 2022. However, his form has suffered while he's been regularly deployed as a No. 9.

Chelsea aren't committed to selling Havertz and are confident he'll return to form under incoming head coach Mauricio Pochettino if he stays, Ornstein reports. The club could lose Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, and N'Golo Kante over the summer.

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to sign West Ham United's Declan Rice to reinforce their midfield. Granit Xhaka is expected to leave the Emirates Stadium for Bayer Leverkusen.
