Alphonso Davies could be less than two weeks away from playing his first match since December.

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann on Friday said that the Canadian full-back could be available to return "around the second leg" of Bayern Munich's Champions League quarterfinal meeting with Villarreal on April 12 at the Allianz Arena.

The 21-year-old, who hasn't featured for Bayern since Dec. 17, returned to training earlier this week and said that he has "no problems" following a three-month bout with an illness associated with COVID-19.

Davies tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 5 during an outbreak at among the Bayern squad and was cleared to begin training a week later.

But his return was postponed indefinitely on Jan. 14 after Davies showed symptoms of a mild heart condition known as myocarditis. The illness was discovered during a routine exam that players with COVID-19 undergo.

The condition forced Davies to miss 12 matches at Bayern and all six of Canada's World Cup qualifiers in 2022. Canada, however, prevailed without its top player, as John Herdman's side secured a World Cup berth with one qualifying match remaining, while Bayern remain atop the Bundesliga with a six-point advantage.

Bayern Munich continue their league campaign this weekend against Freiburg before preparations begin for their first-leg clash with Villarreal in Spain on Wednesday.
