Chelsea's Mourinho, Costa argue, then kiss and make up
Chelsea forward Diego Costa and club manager Jose Mourinho exchanged heated words at halftime during the Blues' eventual 4-0 win over Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv in UEFA Champions League action Tuesday.
The player and coach reportedly argued in the stadium tunnel after Costa failed to pick out Cesc Fabregas with a pass. Yet, the forward wasn't pulled from the lineup in the second half.
"I wanted him to do a certain movement that he didn't," Mourinho told reporters postgame. "I was disappointed that he didn't and I reacted. He did too. At halftime in the dressing room, there were a few kisses and a few cuddles. No problem."
While there may not be problems between Mourinho and Costa, the Portuguese tactician took issue with the field conditions at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa.
The grass was so bad that Mourinho entered the field in order to fix it in the first half, and didn't hold back on his assessment of the facilities after the match.
"Such a beautiful stadium, such a fantastic public ... they deserve a better surface because the surface was bad and dangerous," Mourinho said. "In the warm-up before the game, the pitch was really bad. Ramires slid and has a muscular injury. John (Terry) has an ankle injury I think down to the pitch, we don't know how bad yet."
Terry was stretchered off with the ankle injury and was replaced by Kurt Zouma, who scored the Blues' fourth goal.
