Blue Bombers' Schoen expected to miss remainder of season
Winnipeg Blue Bombers wide receiver Dalton Schoen is expected to miss the rest of the 2024 season, head coach Mike O'Shea confirmed Friday, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.
"It's looking like it's going to be the full year," O'Shea said. "I always hate to say that because you want to give the guy hope and as much opportunity to come back. ... You don't want to put something in their head and have them not fired up to do the work every day.
"Dalton is going to be putting in a lot of work, and I would hate to hold him back."
Schoen sustained a knee injury during Winnipeg's Week 3 loss to the BC Lions. The 27-year-old was placed on the six-game injured list on Monday.
The two-time CFL All-Star has flourished since joining the Blue Bombers. Schoen led the league with 1,441 yards and 16 touchdowns as a rookie during the 2022 campaign. He led the league with 10 scores last season while recording 71 receptions for 1,222 yards.
Schoen hauled in 14 catches for 159 yards in three games this season.
The Bombers also lost All-Star wideout Kenny Lawler in their season opener to an arm fracture.
