Argos' Jeff Knox Jr. facing attempted homicide charges in Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh police department issued an arrest warrant for Toronto Argonauts linebacker Jeff Knox Jr., according to Muriel Draaisma of CBC News.
The warrant, issued on Friday, is related to an Oct. 23 shooting in Pittsburgh. Two men were shot and injured in the incident, Pittsburgh Public Safety deputy public information officer Cara Cruz told Draaisma. The men were taken to hospital and listed in stable but serious condition.
Knox faces seven charges, including two counts of attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of recklessly endangering another person. He has yet to be taken into police custody, according to Draaisma.
The Argonauts said Sunday that they are aware of the charges and investigating.
"The club obviously takes these matters extremely seriously and each member of the organization fully understands the moral expectation and obligation that comes with the privilege of representing the Toronto Argonauts," the team wrote in a statement. "At the same time, the club respects each person's right to a fair process. In this case, the Toronto Argonauts will not determine any potential team-related consequences until the club has conducted all due diligence in this matter."
Knox, a Pittsburgh native, has spent six seasons in the CFL with three teams. The 28-year-old played for the Argos in 2018, then spent last season with the Ottawa Redblacks before returning to Toronto in February.
