Argos clinch division title with dominant win over Lions
The Toronto Argonauts will host a playoff game.
The East Division club punched its ticket to the Eastern Final final Saturday with a convincing 40-13 win on the road over the BC Lions.
Quarterback Ricky Ray led the Double Blue, going 26-of-34 for 341 yards and three touchdowns. He completed at least one pass to eight targets, spreading the ball around effectively all night.
Toronto also received a major boost from its running game, as James Wilder went off for 136 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
The Lions dropped their ninth decision over the last 11 games. Their offence didn't have much roar against the Argos, as they registered a meager 205 total yards.
Signal-caller Jonathon Jennings went 19-of-31 for 145 yards and three woeful interceptions. The running game didn't perform much better, as Jeremiah Johnson led BC with only 27 yards along with a touchdown.
Argos kicker Lirim Hajrullahu converted all four of his field-goal attempts, rebounding from a couple of tough weeks in which he combined to go 2-of-5 on three-point tries.
