The Hamilton Tiger-Cats traded All-Star defensive end John Chick and a 2018 fifth-round draft pick to the Edmonton Eskimos for a 2018 second-round draft selection, they announced Sunday.

Chick recorded 16 tackles and two sacks through eight games with the Tabbies this season. Though he's gotten off to a slow start, the 34-year-old has posted double-digit sack totals in each of the last three seasons and four of the last five. He registered 14 sacks in 2016 en route to his third career All-Star selection.

In Edmonton, Chick will join a first-place squad sporting a shiny 7-1 record. It'll be a stark turnaround from the scene in Hamilton, where the Tiger-Cats are 0-8 and appear ready to waive the white flag on the season.

Chick, a Utah State product, spent the last year-and-a-half with Hamilton after playing his first six CFL campaigns with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he won two Grey Cup titles.
