Green Day has been tabbed to headline the 110th Grey Cup halftime show Nov. 19 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario, the CFL announced Saturday.

Green Day boasts a sizeable catalog of hits and has been nominated for 20 Grammy awards. The band has won five, including Best Alternative Album for "Dookie" in 1995 and Best Rock Album for "American Idiot" in 2005.

The longtime American rock group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, its first year of eligibility.

Originally founded in 1987, the three-piece band consists of singer Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool.

Green Day has prior experience taking center stage at sporting events. The group performed at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game and went viral due to its memorable, expletive-filled set.

The band is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of "Dookie." Green Day's latest album came out in 2020.
