Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.'s night didn't go as planned.

On Friday, the former WBC middleweight champion and son of six-time world boxing champ Julio Cesar Chavez was defeated by the favored Daniel Jacobs and immediately met with boos from a hostile crowd of his own supporters.

Chavez quit after the fifth round with an apparent broken nose, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, and was pummeled with debris by a disappointed audience in Phoenix.

Chavez, who weighed in nearly five pounds over the limit for the 168-pound bout - forfeiting $1 million in the process - started out strong while appearing to win the first round, but otherwise looked overmatched versus Jacobs.

The more nimble Jacobs used quick, tactical jabs against his opponent during a dominating performance that didn't sit well with Chavez's father, who sat ringside.

Following the fight, Chavez said Jacobs kept elbowing and headbutting him and that his opponent's illegal shots were the reason he lost.

Aside from a first-round knockout of Evert Bravo this past August, Friday's bout against Jacobs was Chavez's first since losing to Canelo Alvarez in May 2017.

With the loss, Chavez falls to 51-4-1, while Jacobs moves to 36-3 following his victory.
