Raonic withdraws from French Open

Canada's Milos Raonic withdrew from the French Open on Sunday just before the main draw for the men's competition was conducted, according to The Canadian Press.

The 30-year-old hasn't played at Roland-Garros since his fourth-round elimination in 2017. He didn't feature in any of the clay-court tournaments leading up to this year's event in Paris.

Raonic's withdrawal means Felix Auger-Aliassime, Bianca Andreescu, and Leylah Annie Fernandez are the only Canadians left at the French Open.

Francisco Cerundolo replaced the No. 17-seeded Raonic in the draw. The Argentine slots in at 116th in the ATP rankings. He backed out from this year's Australian Open in the second round of qualifying due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Cerundolo, 22, faces Thiago Monteiro on Monday.
