Four months ago, chair umpire Arnaud Gabas had to undergo surgery to repair a fractured orbital bone, after Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov smoked him in the eye with a frustrated ball whack during a Davis Cup match.
Back in the chair at the French Open, Gabas likely got flashbacks, as an errant Robin Haase shot came screaming toward him. Fortunately, this one struck him a couple feet below the face.
After Gabas averted a second disaster, Haase had a little fun with him, playfully miming a bow-and-arrow shot at the chair.
