Nani's exploits for Portugal at Euro 2016 appeared to put him on the radar of numerous clubs, but it's Valencia who has acquired the 29-year-old from Fenerbahce.

The former Manchester United winger-cum-forward signed a deal lasting until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Stoke City admitted an interest in tempting Nani only a day before the completion of Tuesday's signing, but his pace and trickery will be witnessed in the warm climate of the Mediterranean coast rather than on rainy Tuesday nights in the Potteries.

Nani is currently undergoing preparations for Portugal's semi-final tilt with Wales on Wednesday; whoever advances from Lyon with a victory will face either France or Germany in the final.

Due to the disjointed performances from Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal's successes have often come courtesy of other national team stars, such as the intelligent defensive work of Pepe, the tireless travails of teenager Renato Sanches, or the two goals and one assist claimed by Nani.

The experienced Cape Verde native will fill the void left by right-winger Sofiane Feghouli, who left for West Ham United. Nani becomes the first signing of the summer at the Mestalla.
