Amid a standout performance with Portugal at Euro 2016, Fenerbahce winger Nani has again become an object of transfer interest, with Stoke City conceding its desire to sign the former Manchester United attacker.

Still in France preparing for Wednesday's semi-final tilt against Wales, Nani could be poised for a return to the Premier League following a two-year hiatus on loan with Sporting Lisbon and last season with the Turkish runner-up.

Stoke and manager Mark Hughes are hoping to beat off interest from Valencia and lure the 29-year-old Cape Verde-born purveyor of pace to the Britannia Stadium.

"I know there is an interest there. Valencia are a big club but it is the draw of the Premier League," Hughes' assistant Mark Bowen told talkSPORT, courtesy of Sky Sports.

"He is player that Mark admires a lot and he has had a very good tournament. Without giving too much away, there is an interest there and let's see what happens."

Nani appeared in 28 league matches for Fenerbahce last season, pairing eight goals with eight assists, a season after a productive loan stint with the Lisbon giants whose academy he joined in 2003 as a 17-year-old. That loan move to Sporting saw full-back Marcos Rojo head the other way to Old Trafford.

Blessed with pace and dribbling skills, Nani, who has two years left on his deal in Istanbul, could be slated for a return to the English top flight if Stoke has its way.

"In my opinion, he left the Premier League far too early. He had his time at Manchester United and had been a big player for them and he seemed to drift away rather than step into another club in the Premier League.

"If he is ready to come back, then I'm sure there will be a lot of clubs interested in him."
