Agent: Giuseppe Rossi set to leave Fiorentina in January
Giuseppe Rossi's agent confirmed his client is itching for a move away from Fiorentina in the January transfer window.
Rossi is finally healthy after dealing with consecutive long-term knee injuries, but has spent most of the season on the bench.
Breakout performances from Nikola Kalinic, Federico Bernardeschi, and Khouma Babacar have kept Rossi out of the starting XI, limiting him to just four starts and nine appearances in Serie A.
"The club has realised it cannot keep hold of the lad because he wants to play," agent Federico Pastorello told Radio Marte. "He will 99 percent leave Fiorentina in January."
La Viola has soared up the standings without Rossi. They're currently in second place in Serie A and just a point behind Inter Milan. Manager Paulo Sousa hasn't found a reason to bring in Rossi because of that success.
Sampdoria and Bologna have emerged as likely destinations for the 28-year-old Italian-American, with Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero admitting his interest.
"If Fiorentina were prepared to pay his wages, I'd gladly bring him here," Ferrero told Firenzeviola.it. "I'd have to talk it over with (manager Vincenzo) Montella first. If he gave the all-clear, then why not?"
Montella coached Rossi at Fiorentina from 2013-15.
