Szczesny to Roma fans ahead of loan: 'I'm going to Rome. See you there'

Arsenal 'keeper Wojciech Szczesny's much-anticipated loan to Roma appears to be close as the Polish international posted an Instagram message.

Szczesny posted a video Sunday with a few words for Roma supporters, "Good evening Giallorossi, I'm really happy because tomorrow (Monday) I'm going to Rome. See you there."

Ciao Giallorossi!! ⚽️

With the summer transfer of Chelsea legend Petr Cech to the Emirates, Arsenal had three 'keepers for two positions, and either Colombian World Cup star David Ospina or Szczesny had become surplus.

The 25-year-old shot-stopper, who has made 132 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, may yet have a future at the North London club, and despite the season-long loan to Roma, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still has plenty of praise for the lanky 'keeper.

"I believe he will have a future at Arsenal. I personally rate him highly - you do not take a boy and put him in the first team at the age of 20 (if you don't)." Wenger continued, "He already has huge experience. I don't want that experience at such a young age to be wasted," according to Ben Gladwell of ESPNFC.

Szczesny will have a good chance of winning Roma's first-choice spot, as current No. 1 Morgan De Sanctis will turn 39 during this Serie A season and is quickly approaching the twilight of his career.
