Any club interested in signing Inter Milan's star striker Mauro Icardi can just keep their money in their pockets.

In conversation with Inter's official website, club director Piero Ausilio dismissed the rumours and insisted that Icardi is set for a long haul at the San Siro, adding further fuel to reports that claim the 22-year-old is expected to sign a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Inter until 2019.

"What would happen if they offered me €40 million this summer for Icardi?" Aurelio said, according to ESPN FC. "We have no intention of negotiating. We are thinking about the present and the future with Icardi. Our intentions are clear, we are building a team that will last for a long time, with young valuable players.

"To talents like (Croatian midfielder Mateo) Kovacic and Icardi, we have brought in other players of quality like (Croatian midfielder Marcelo) Brozovic and (Swiss midifelder Xherdan) Shaqiri. This is in the direction that we want to move forward."

Ausilio continued: "We know we have to recognise the good work he (Icardi) had done and that will be done. He has made his requests and we are working towards that. What matters is that we will soon reach an agreement. I'm convinced."

Reports in Italy have also suggested that Icardi, who has notched 14 goals through 24 Serie A appearances this season, could leave Inter if they fail to qualify for the 2015-16 Champions League.

However, even with Inter sitting ninth in Serie A, everything appears set for Icardi to remain with the Nerazzuri.
