Sought-after Manolas says his future is 'in Roma's hands'
Kostas Manolas suggests he has little say in his future as Roma decides whether to cash in on its in-demand centre-half this summer.
The Greece international's contract in the Italian capital runs until 2019, and unless an offer to extend that deal is pitched by the Giallorossi they may demand a substantial sum for his services from interested parties such as Chelsea, Arsenal, and Inter Milan.
"It's in Roma's hands," Manolas told Mediaset after his country's 1-1 draw with Belgium on Saturday, with translation from ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell. "If they want to keep hold of me, they know what they have to do, and if they want to sell me, there is nothing I can do about it."
Manolas moved to Roma from Olympiacos in 2014, and has proven himself to be an assured performer in Serie A. The Naxos native has forged a fine understanding with Federico Fazio in the centre of defence, helping Roma to only concede more than league-leading Juventus this term.
Luciano Spalletti's side welcomes relegation-threatened Empoli to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.
