Milan rivals each make nondescript defensive moves
The two Milan clubs got some business done on transfer deadline day, with Inter bringing Australian defender Trent Sainsbury aboard from Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, while AC Milan shipped Rodrigo Ely to Alaves on a season-long loan.
The bitter city rivals confirmed their respective moves with brief statements.
Sainsbury's arrival coincides with Inter's decision just hours earlier to send Andrea Ranocchia to Hull City; the 25-year-old figures to offer defensive depth for Stefano Pioli's side in light of the Italian's loan move.

The move, influenced by new Chinese Super League rules placing limits on foreign players, was surely also aided by the fact that Inter is owned by Suning, the parent company of the CSL side.
On the red half of Milan, meanwhile, Ely will head to La Liga in search of playing time he wasn't finding at the San Siro. The 23-year-old Brazilian defender didn't make a Serie A appearance this season.
