AC Milan recruits Ocampos on season-long loan
AC Milan has bolstered its attacking options with the signing of Lucas Ocampos from Marseille.
The Rossoneri announced Monday he has joined the club on a season-long loan without any option to buy.
The 22-year-old, who spent the first half of the season at Genoa, is Milan's third acquisition of the January transfer window after the arrivals of backup goalkeeper Marco Storari and like-minded winger Gerard Deulofeu.
Ocampos is a direct replacement for M'Baye Niang, who departed for Watford last week on an initial loan deal.
The Buenos Aires native is likely Milan's final bit of business before Tuesday's transfer deadline. It concludes what was a complicated series of negotiations which required the approval of both Marseille and Genoa.
Genoa still retains an option to buy Ocampos from the Ligue 1 outfit, according to Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio. Marseille also has a sell-on clause that entitles Rudi Garcia's side to 25 percent of any future sale, Di Marzio adds.
Ocampos could make his debut Sunday against Sampdoria.
