Juventus' Rugani, Asamoah out 6-7 weeks with knee injuries

Juventus will be without the services of blossoming defender Daniele Rugani and midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah for roughly 45 days, as the club announced that both suffered knee injuries in Saturday's 1-0 win over Palermo.

"The tests revealed that Asamoah has ruptured the meniscus cartilage, while Rugani has strained the lateral collateral ligament, both in the right knee," read a club statement.

"The former is expected to undergo surgery with both players anticipated to return within around 45 days."

Rugani, 22, was making just his second Serie A appearance of the season, the young Italian attempting to establish himself as the future of the Bianconeri backline.

Asamoah, meanwhile, will have to endure another spell on the sidelines after seeing his career derailed by knee problems over the last two seasons; the Ghanaian had made just 18 league appearances in two years heading into the 2016-17 campaign.

The news comes as a blow to manager Massimiliano Allegri, who is already without Claudio Marchisio and Medhi Benatia.
