Watch: Hamsik notches 100th Napoli goal to close in on Maradona
Captain Marek Hamsik walloped his 100th goal for Napoli in Saturday's 2-0 win over Chievo Verona, becoming only the fifth player in club history to surpass the century mark.
It's quite a milestone for a midfielder, and a testament to his loyalty to the Partenopei.
The strike was special because of the circumstances, but it could've made the highlight reels on merit alone. Hamsik made sure he was onside before launching a left-footed rocket into the top corner.
The 29-year-old first arrived in Italy with Brescia in 2004, joining Napoli three years later for a relatively inexpensive €5.5-million fee.
He's outlasted several other big names at the San Paolo, a long list including Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani, and, more recently, Gonzalo Higuain. The Slovakia international stayed true to Napoli even though he's been robbed multiple times in southern Italy.
He's now only 15 goals short of Diego Maradona's all-time scoring record, and with a contract until 2020, he can certainly break it.
