Maradona: Sign Kane as Higuain replacement at Napoli

Harry Kane's freescoring form for Tottenham Hotspur and England has drawn plaudits from all corners of the globe, including Diego Maradona's living room.

The Argentinian great became a Napoli legend during a seven-year spell at the club in his playing days, and has cited the 22-year-old as the ideal replacement for Gonzalo Higuain should he be sold this summer.

"I know (Napoli president Auerelio) De Laurentiis, and I think he will sell Higuain," Maradona told Piuenne TV via Sky Sports.

"(Higuain) gave his best to Napoli, I don't think he can repeat this kind of form. We already saw it happen with (Ezequiel) Lavezzi."

Higuain is dominating the Serie A goalscoring charts this season with an incredible 30 goals across 32 starts, and has a significant lead over Juventus' 16-goal Paulo Dybala. The 28-year-old's form is said to have alerted a number of clubs including reigning Premier League champion Chelsea, and he would command a lucrative transfer fee like when Lavezzi left for Paris Saint-Germain for £23 million in 2012.

"With the money he will earn, he will have to build a great team," said Maradona, referring to the boosted coffers if the forward exits the Stadio San Paolo.

"It's not easy to replace Higuain, if it was up to me, I would choose Tottenham's Kane. I don't know how much he costs, but I would sign him."

Higuain's efforts consist of 42 percent of all of Napoli's goals in the Italian top flight, so his sale would leave supporters expectant of mass attacking recruitment in the summer.
