The Montreal Canadiens lost their captain Tuesday.

Max Pacioretty took a P.K. Subban slap shot to the face in the second period against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He left the game and the club announced he wouldn't return during the intermission.

Pacioretty was able to skate off under his own power, but the Canadiens seemingly exercised caution with their leader. The official diagnosis the club offered was simple: "Injured."

Head coach Michel Therrien said after the game, which the Canadiens lost 5-2, that he was told that Pacioretty will be fine, according to TSN's John Lu.

No. 67 has 19 goals and 17 assists in 49 games. He has four goals and three assists in 11 games in January.
