Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin had a roller coaster of a Friday.

The Hockey News released its rookie issue earlier in the day, the cover of which dubbed the 19-year-old "the next Jonathan Toews."

Larkin's day took an unfortunate turn during his team's evening game against the Buffalo Sabres, though, as he lost a tooth after being caught by a Marcus Foligno high stick in the third period.

All was forgotten five minutes later as he broke a scoreless draw by sliding his team-leading 15th goal past Robin Lehner from a tough angle. The goal would stand as the eventual game-winner, giving him a rookie-leading five for the season.

Larkin picked up an assist on a Henrik Zetterberg goal later in the period, earning him a brand new achievement as coined by reporter Brad Galli of WXYZ-TV.

The Red Wings won by a final score of 3-0.
