Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin, Detroit Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek, and Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie were named the NHL's three stars of the week Monday.

Ovechkin had a week to remember, scoring five times over four Capitals wins, and capped it off by becoming the fifth-fastest player in history to score 500 career goals with his first of two on Sunday. The Russian winger also captured the league lead with 26 goals, as his team sits comfortably atop the Eastern Conference.

The Red Wings are undefeated so far on their six-game road trip, and they have Mrazek - who went 3-0-0 with an 0.67 goals against average and a .978 save percentage for the week - to thank for that. The 23-year-old looks like a clear No. 1 goalie as his play has vaulted Detroit into second place in the Atlantic.

Barrie, named the third star, led all blue-liners with six points, highlighted by a four-point outburst against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 4. The 24-year-old also scored scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season Friday against the Nashville Predators.
