VIDEO: Blues' Tarasenko goes top shelf for Russia in win over Denmark

Laszlo Balogh

Vladimir Tarasenko scored his first goal for Russia at the World Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, and it was just as good as you'd expect from the dynamic St. Louis Blues forward.

Tarasenko lifted a wrist shot through traffic and over Denmark goaltender Sebastian Dahm to give Russia a 5-2 lead.

Russia hung on for the victory and improved to 3-0-0-1, moving into a tie with the United States atop Group B. The USA has a game in hand and faces Belarus on Thursday.

The Americans defeated Russia 4-2 in Ostrava on Monday.
