Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog and teammate Cody McLeod have been fined following an incident between the benches in Saturday night's loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Landeskog and McLeod were fined the maximum allowable amount under the CBA for their roles in the altercation, the league's Department of Player Safety announced on Tuesday.

The teams got into a shouting match along the benches in the waning moments of the 3-1 Wild victory, after McLeod took on Minnesota forward Charlie Coyle with three seconds remaining in the game.

McLeod was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct, five minutes for fighting and a game misconduct. Landeskog was ejected after leaning over to shout at the Wild bench.

Landeskog was fined $5,000 for punching Mikko Koivu on the bench, while McLeod was docked $3,091 for his role, according to James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail.
