Ottawa Senators defenseman Jared Cowen will have a hearing Monday for an illegal check to the head on Florida Panthers forward Jussi Jokinen, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced.
Cowen took advantage of Jokinen watching a drop pass midway through the second period, stepping up to deliver a hard hit with the principal contact appearing to be the head.
Jokinen was down for a moment, but did finish the game.
Cowen was suspended two games in December of 2013 for an illegal check to the head of Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons.
