Andrey Makarov is headed home after five seasons in North America.

The Buffalo Sabres' farmhand, who appeared in 22 games last season for the Rochester Americans, has signed a free-agent contract with Spartak Moscow of the KHL, according to international reports.

Makarov made one appearance for Buffalo, making 33 saves in a loss to the New York Islanders late in the 2014-15 season.

Robin Lehner and Linus Ullmark are the lone goalies currently under contract in Buffalo.
