Report: Kelly's Eagles offered enormous trade package for Mariota

After the Tennessee Titans stuck to their guns and picked Marcus Mariota second overall at the 2015 NFL Draft, head coach Chip Kelly denied rumors that the Eagles had offered players and picks in order to move up and select his college quarterback.

Kelly recruited Mariota to Oregon in 2012 and went 12-1 with Mariota as a freshman starter. Oregon went on to enjoy two more seasons of Mariota, the school's all-time best quarterback, playing in a system Kelly established.

Peter Schrager of FOX Sports brought those rumors back to life with some interesting details as a guest on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" radio show Thursday.

For clarification, Philadelphia would have given up Nelson Agholor (20th overall pick in 2015), Eric Rowe (47th overall pick in 2015), most likely Sam Bradford (any quarterback), probably either Fletcher Cox or Malcolm Jenkins (any defensive player), and this year's 13th overall pick.

Mariota has been very good for the Titans considering the weapons he has to work with, but that trade haul, coupled with the first overall pick this year, would have allowed Tennessee to skip a season or two of development.

There were rumors that Bradford, linebacker Mychal Kendricks, guard Evan Mathis, and Cox were potentially available, but Schrager's report indicates the Eagles may have been truly desperate to get Mariota - and may help explain why they no longer employ Kelly.
