The New York Giants reportedly aren't inclined to take a chance on Jason Pierre-Paul in the form of a long-term contract extension.

New York remains open to having the impending free agent return in 2016, but the team is only willing to do so on a one-year deal, reports Jordan Raanan of NJ Advance Media.

Unless Pierre-Paul is willing to bet on himself by accepting a "prove-it" deal, it appears likely that he'll have the opportunity to field offers on the open market.

While there should be no shortage of interest in his services, it's unclear whether any other teams will be comfortable enough with his medicals to put a multi-year deal on the table.

Pierre-Paul missed the first half of the 2015 season after a Fourth of July fireworks incident left him with significant injuries on his right hand.

He managed just one sack in the eight games after making his return to the lineup, unable to grip while playing with a sizable wrap.
