Antonio Cromartie: Playing for Bills would be 'great opportunity'

Antonio Cromartie appears enthralled by the prospect of joining the Buffalo Bills in free agency.

Earlier Sunday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Bills are expected to meet with Cromartie.

Cromartie initially appeared skeptical during a segment on "NFL Total Access," laughingly asking Rapoport where he got his information before relenting.

"That would be good," Cromartie said when Rapoport suggested a one-year contract worth $14 million-$15 million. "I love Rex, man. That would be a great opportunity for me. I played for him for four years, and I think he's doing something good up there, up in Buffalo, to turn the organization back around."

Cromartie previously excelled under Rex Ryan during their tenure with the New York Jets (2010-13) and he raved about the Bills' defensive personnel.

"It would be great. The front seven is tremendous up there. The secondary, you have a young Ronald Darby, you have (Stephon) Gilmore that's on the other side, and you have (Aaron) Williams on the back end at the safety position," Cromartie said. "When you look into it, you have to have a lot of corners in Rex's defense. That's what he's big on, having a lot of corners make plays and try to create as many turnovers as you can."

After being released by the Jets on Feb. 22 after the first season of a four-year contract, Cromartie could exact revenge on his former club twice a year by joining their cross-state divisional rival.
