Report: Cowboys don't want to sign Manziel
Johnny Manziel appears to be running out of second chances.
The Dallas Cowboys have long been rumored as a potential landing spot for the troubled quarterback, but a high-ranking team official tells Rebecca Lopez of WFAA that they have no interest in signing him after the recent domestic violence allegations made against him.
That same source told WFAA before the allegations were made public that he had doubts the Cowboys would pursue Manziel if he was released by the Cleveland Browns, which is reportedly expected to happen in March.
A police report released Thursday alleges Manziel struck his ex-girlfriend several times during a Jan. 30 altercation. Police in Fort Worth and Dallas said he will not be charged and the case is closed.
The Cowboys are in the market for a backup to Tony Romo, and Manziel and Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III have both been rumored as potential targets.
