Giants GM Reese: 'Nothing is set yet' about Jason Pierre-Paul's return

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese spoke to Jason Pierre-Paul on Sunday, marking the first time the two have been in touch since the defensive end's July Fourth fireworks accident.

Reese declined to go into detail about what was said, only describing it as a positive talk during his appearance on WFAN's "Boomer and Carlton Show" on Monday.

"It was a great conversation. (But) nothing is set yet," Reese said in regards to Pierre-Paul's future, according to Giants101.com. "We're not pissed off. We're not mad about it."

Giants owner and president John Mara joined WFAN earlier in the morning and said Pierre-Paul has also spoken to Ronnie Barnes, the team's senior vice president of medical services. Barnes was among those who went to see Pierre-Paul in Florida after the accident - which resulted in the loss of one of his index fingers - but was turned away by the defensive end.

Pierre-Paul has reportedly been rehabbing away from the Giants and has yet to sign his franchise tag. The fact that he and team officials are talking again, though, is a good sign.
