ZURICH (AP) SOCCER
The U.S. government launched an attack on what it called deep-seated and brazen corruption in soccer's global governing body Wednesday, pulling FIFA executives out of a luxury Swiss hotel to face racketeering charges and raiding regional offices in Miami.
Swiss officials also invaded FIFA headquarters, seizing records and computers to investigate whether the decisions to award World Cups to Russia and Qatar were rigged.
Scandals and rumors of corruption have dogged FIFA throughout the 17-year reign of its president, Sepp Blatter, but he was not named in either investigation. He is scheduled to stand Friday for re-election to a fifth, four-year term, and the organization said the vote will go ahead as planned, despite the turmoil.
FIFA also ruled out a revote of the World Cup bids won by Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - NFL lineman Ray McDonald has been arrested for the second time this week.
The Santa Clara Police Department says the former San Francisco defensive end violated a restraining order by being at a residence in Santa Clara on Wednesday.
The restraining order was issued after an earlier domestic violence incident in Santa Clara on Memorial Day. In that incident, he allegedly broke down a bedroom door to get to his ex-fiancee and their infant.
He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and child endangerment, but was free on bail. The Chicago Bears released the lineman Monday following that arrest.
On Wednesday, Santa Clara detectives found McDonald him at a Togo's Sandwiches in Santa Clara, where they arrested him without incident. He will be booked at Santa Clara County Jail.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Defensive end Antonio Smith is absent from the Denver Broncos' organized team activities while prosecutors in Texas investigate a criminal sexual complaint against him.
Smith met with general manager John Elway, team president and CEO Joe Ellis and coach Gary Kubiak and they all agreed it was best for Smith to skip the voluntary workouts that began Wednesday.
Smith, 33, has not been arrested and no charges have been filed in the case. Sheriff Troy Nehls of Fort Bend County near Houston said a complaint was made against Smith in November and it was ''sexual in nature.'' His department's findings were forwarded to prosecutors in February.
District Attorney John Healey last week said the investigation was ongoing and stressed the ''complaint at this point is an allegation only.''

COLLEGE
IRVING, Texas (AP) - The Big 12 Conference has passed a measure under which schools could face fines or even the loss of future home games for failing to control fans who storm courts or rush fields after games.
Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said Wednesday at the league's spring meetings that he's been given broad prerogatives to deal with such issues.
In February, Bowlsby publicly reprimanded Kansas State for failing to prevent Wildcats fans from pouring onto the court after the school's men's basketball upset victory over rival and then eighth-ranked Kansas
Bowlsby said then that revisions to policies must guarantee that no such incidents like that should occur in the future.
The Southeastern Conference has been fining its schools since 2004, and plans to substantially increase fines for such violations.

GOLF
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) - Mariah Stackhouse rallied to beat Hayley Davis in 19 holes to give Stanford its first NCAA women's golf title, 3-2 over Baylor on Wednesday.
Stackhouse, a junior from Riverdale, Georgia, won when Davis' 3-foot par putt missed to the right on the par-4 10th hole at The Concession Golf Club.
Two holes down after losing the par-4 16th, Stackhouse won the par-5 17th with a two-putt birdie and took the par-4 18th with a 15-foot birdie putt. Davis, a senior from England, birdied the 16th, hitting a 134-yard shot from a muddy lie in the left-side hazard to 8 feet.
Casey Danielson and Shannon Aubert also won matches for Stanford.
After Danielson gave Stanford a 2-1 lead with a 2-up victory over Laura Lonardi, Baylor tied it with Dylan Kim's 3-and-1 victory over Lauren Kim.
Stanford took a 1-0 lead when Aubert beat Lauren Whyte 4 and 3. Baylor pulled even with Giovana Maymon's 4-and-3 victory over Quirine Eijkenboom.
