Bengals' Marvin Lewis says no timeline for Cedric Ogbuehi's debut

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said he's not going to rush 2015 first-round pick Cedric Ogbuehi into the lineup.

Ogbuehi was selected the 21st pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but is recovering from a torn ACL that occurred in December, during Texas A&M's Liberty Bowl victory against West Virginia.

The Bengals sport one of the deepest offensive lines in the league, and Lewis isn't worried about the timing of Ogbuehi's debut.

"There's no timeline, there's no race," Lewis said to ESPN's Coley Harvey. "But he's able to stay up to speed with the things mentally and watch the techniques. He can't go out and execute them on the field right now, but he'll be fine when the time comes when he's released from that."

Ogbuehi watched the opening day of Bengals minicamp from the sidelines. With the outstanding duo of Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith penciled in at left and right tackle respectively, the Bengals don't have an immediate need to place Ogbuehi into the starting lineup.

"It's our first chance to put hands on him and see where he is in the rehab process and a lot of times where we think they are and where they thought they were are two different things," Lewis said. "We'll get the things done and turned around the way we know to do them, and we'll do them as quick as possible and get him ready to play football as soon as he proves to be ready."

Ogbuehi is expected to be the Bengals' next star on the offensive line, with both Smith and Whitworth slated to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the 2015 season. With Cincinnati returning the core tenets of its line for one more year, it's understandable to see why Lewis is no rush to start grooming his newest protege.
