Jerry Jones willing to show 'serious flexibility' in DeMarco Murray negotiations

The Dallas Cowboys have their hands full this offseason trying to re-sign both Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray.

With an already tight cap situation, you wouldn't figure the organization has much wiggle room with their two prized free agents.

That said, owner Jerry Jones had a much different take on Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"I don’t see a number. I see a range," Jones said. "That’s not uncommon … In a legitimate negotiation you usually have both of them thinking ranges. You have both of them in brackets. You have both of them thinking brackets and within the parameters how you get a deal done."

Jones went so far as to say the Cowboys would be willing to bend when it comes to a potential contract for the 2014 Offensive Player of the Year.

"We want DeMarco enough that I've got some serious flexibility in my bracket," he said. "There's no question that Murray is an outstanding football player in my mind. Our wish is to work something out and we’re going to strive to do that to the extent that we can."

The Cowboys have already hinted that they would use the franchise tag on Bryant if need be, leaving Murray at the mercy of working out a new deal.

Bryant seems to be the logical choice to keep of the two if they could only retain one, but you could make an argument Murray was more important to the team's success.

Murray's 1,800 yards were nice, but his ability to keep the Cowboys much-maligned defense off the field and take some pressure off Tony Romo is what turned Dallas' fortunes around.
